Dream, Do, try, fail, again try, reflect, connect, do differently, do it again, fail again, take help, talk about it, share, get inspired, and inspire others...these are some of the common vocabulary at Aarohi.

One announcement “We need Tipity taps for all our washbasins, interested people can connect with the facilitator”.

He came forward with his own design and imagination. He brainstormed with the facilitator, He took help of few, he wondered, he searched for material, he became friend with tools (some he used for the first time), he challenged self

We decided to explore some new materials/methods for flooring and walls - we asked the same question to ourselves - what way? After connecting, debating, researching, surveying we zeroed down to the floor using Chapri stones and walls using wattle and Daub construction. Constraint brings creativity and we that's what self-constrained is leading for us - we put the constraint of not making any two buildings with the same material or technique, we continue to seek.

This keeps us alive. The best part of building the wall and children from ages 2 years to adults 60 years old - almost 100 different children and adults from atleast 7-8 different countries - all of these at different times - contributed to making the walls.

We announced ‘Jobs@Aarohi. There was excitement to apply for the job - some want this job to earn money and feel independent, while some wanted to apply for this job purely for their joy of doing and taking more responsibility.

Additional notice was sent to those who wanted to apply for the job to earn money - "Job at Aarohi is primarily a learning opportunity - and not to be seen as one for earning money. Money, whatever, whenever one gets paid is purely incidental. We want all who take up Job@aarohi to focus on learning and realize that inside learning earning is embedded. Remember you start with a training period which will continue till you reach 80% responsibility and effectiveness".

They appeared for a job interview, understood the scope of work, and took up their assignment ---starting a new journey in their life.

Coming together to make a play gym
A sloppy surface
Few strong logs
Few ideas
Few ropes
Few Tyres
All of us together on a cloudy morning to make
A place to do Dangal
A place to swing
A place to do gymnastics

Just the right recipe for our imagination to turn into action

Journey of an accountant, Pratyaksh - He first experienced the work scope for a week. He appeared for the interview and after some thought, he has accepted the job of ‘Aarohi Accountant’.

This journey was not so easy for him. He began with understanding money entries, managing day-to-day expenses. Daily gyan from Ratnesh was normal for him. Sometimes I would feel bad ‘baccha hai’, But Ratnesh and Pratyaksh proved me wrong. . He realized ‘good handwriting’ is required for entries in the account book, he worked on it. Well, I was surprised he continued, he would lie down on the floor, dance all over to match his accounts. Soon he learns the dynamics of daily accounts.

Yes, We began with a dream to have our library in a bus. The community tried to get the bus in many different ways and one day we came to know about the auction of an old government library bus. We had only heard about the auction in movies, not in real life.

Some kids were excited about the concept and the process began. After all the paperwork, it was time to decide our limits. Our accountant (10yrs old) did his own calculation and gave a green signal.

On the day of the auction all were sitting glued to the laptop (it was an online auction ). After ups and downs of winning and losing, finally, we won the bid!

#8 REFLECTION

There is no specific reason why one would reflect - though we presume (and so has John Dewey said) that any doing or experience will lead ...
